How do I set my phone up?

The plane guide clips on, so Strike Wedge doubles as the phone holder. Set your phone in it, or lean it against anything steady. Train first, then stand your phone in it to measure.

Put the phone about one driver length from the ball, roughly square to the target line, with the ball in the tee-side half of the frame. Wait for the torch to go steady, then hit. A pulsing torch means the phone is still looking for the ball.

Do I need a net?

Hit into a net at home or at the club. A driving range works too. Use a white regulation golf ball.

What if nothing is detected?
  1. Check Handedness first. Tap the gear button in the top corner of any screen, then Setup, then Handedness. A wrong setting stops every shot being detected and is the most common cause, so left-handers should check it first.
  2. Watch the torch. A pulsing torch means the phone has not found the ball, so check the distance and which side of the frame the ball is on. A steady torch means it is ready to hit.
  3. Check Photos access. If it was denied, capture fails with "Permissions Denied". On your iPhone, open Settings, then Strike Wedge, then Photos, then choose Add Photos Only.
  4. Check the light. It is the biggest known trouble spot. If it still will not read, tell us where you were hitting and what the light was like.
What does a good read look like?

Tap the gear button, then Demo, then See a demo shot. It runs a real swing through the app, with no ball, club or camera needed.
